CAT Lab Researcher Receives Honorable Mention in the 2020 NSF Competition

Congratulations to Elizabeth Youatt, who has received an Honorable Mention in the 2020 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) competition!

Elizabeth is a second year graduate student interested in taking a biological systems approach to examine vagal pathways in parallel infant and rodent models of temperament. She is currently measuring respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), heart rate, and blood pressure markers to examine the cardiovascular system, and taking a “multi-omic” approach to the analysis of the gut-brain axis. Combined with behavioral measures, this approach will allow her to examine how the heart, the gut, and the brain are involved in behavioral processes related to individual temperament.

Way to go Elizabeth!
